Frequently Asked Questions:

How much does the foaling service cost?
The foaling fee is $650. The daily board for the mare before and after foaling is $30/Day

Do you offer any discounts?
Yes! Please call for more information...

What if I want to keep my mare & foal longer than a few days post-foaling? Do I still pay $30/day?
We offer mare & foal field board in a 20+ acre field with a run-in shed for $500/month. This includes daily handling of mare & foal, grain 2x daily, and hay (when neccessary).

What do I need to bring with my mare?
Please bring a copy of her negative coggins (no older than 1 year), any supplements she is on, and a leather foal halter.

When should I bring my mare to WHE?
Everyone seems to have a different opinion of this topic. We suggest that you consult with your vet or call us with your mare's history.

What vet do you suggest we use for our mare and foal?
We have a long list of great vets in our area. Most of them come to our farm on a regular basis during foaling season. So, anyone you wish!

Do I need to take my mare off pasture before she foals?
Because of the pesky fescue growing all over VA, we HIGHLY suggest that you dry lot your mare at least 60 days before her due date. Also, make sure your hay does not contain fescue!
